Indians gain huge win over WCHS in 5th Region By Trey Stephens Sports Writer for Columbia Magazine Last night, in the first round of 5th region basketball tournament, Adair County High School defeated Washington County 70-62. This was a huge win for the Indians and moves them past the first round of the regional tournament for the first time in 7 years. The team was led in scoring by Connor Loy who had 31 followed by Isaiah Cochran who had 18. The leading rebounders for the Indians were also Connor Loy and Isaiah Cochran both grabbing 8. The team shot 53% from the floor, 36% from 3, and 71% from the free throw line. This win keeps the Indians on track as they now are only two wins away from punching their ticket to the state tournament. Their team will play again on Friday night against the Trojans of North Hardin High School who defeated Hart County 65-33 last night to move on to the 2nd round of the region tournament. The Indians and the Trojans did face off in a pre-season scrimmage this year with Adair County coming out on top. This story was posted on 2024-03-06 10:08:55
