Baseball opens homestand with a sweep of Concordia The Lindsey Wilson baseball team opened their four game homestand with Concordia (Mich.) with a sweep of both games on Saturday afternoon. The Blue Raiders won the first game 20-9 and the second game 4-0. Lindsey Wilson continues its homestand against Concordia on Monday, March 4, 2024, beginning at NoonCT. Both games will be streamed live on the Lindsey Wilson Sports Network. Game 1 | Lindsey Wilson 20, Concordia 9 Andres Duran started the scoring off strong for the Blue Raiders, hitting a grand slam in the first inning, quickly followed up by Nazhir Bergen who topped off the inning with a home run of his own, also tabbing an RBI. Bergen's strong offensive performance continued into the second inning where he notched another home run as well as another RBI. The third inning began with Sam Gage hitting a double that garnered two runs, and a home run by Chance Staytonfollowed, also bringing in two runs. Bryce Sidler also hit a double, recording two RBI's on the hit, and Jaden Cockerel singled bringing Sidler to home plate. During the fourth inning, Gabe Board hit a single that brought in a run and Bergen hit a sacrifice fly which allowed Duran to add another run for the Blue Raiders. Concordia started fighting back in the fifth inning, hitting two home runs and bringing in five runs. Lindsey Wilson responded by adding two more runs to their total to close out the inning. The first game of the day concluded with Concordia adding four more runs, two in the sixth inning and two in the seventh to bring their total to nine. Cohen Achen picked up the win for the Blue Raiders, his third of the season. Game 2 | Lindsey Wilson 4, Concordia 0 Glenn Simes pitched a shutout game for the Blue Raiders for their second meeting of the day against the Cardinals, recording his second win of the season. Pitching all seven innings, Simes allowed only two hits and recorded five strikeouts. Lindsey Wilson started the scoring off in the second inning, with Sidler doubling to right field allowing Caden Davis to reach home, followed by a single by Board that allowed Sidler to bring in a run. Koby Wall hit a double in the fourth inning to bring in another run, and also hit a single in the sixth inning that brought in the fourth and final run of the game for the Blue Raiders.
