Kenneth N. (Kenny) Janes, 88, Columbia, KY (1935-2024) Kenneth Nell "Kenny" Janes, 88, of Columbia, KY passed away Thursday, February 29, 2024, at Nortons Hospital in Louisville, KY. Funeral services will be held at 2pmCT on Sunday, March 3, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Paul Patton and Bro. Larry Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the Haven Hill Cemetery, with Military Honors provided by VFW 6097. Visitation will be on Saturday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Sunday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born on June 17, 1935, in Sparksville, KY to the late George and Sophia Petty Janes. Mr. Janes was a member of the Egypt Christian Church, a veteran of the U. S. Army, and he and his wife were the owners and operators of the Green River Bait Shop. He enjoyed taking care of his two horses and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Lois Feese Janes of Columbia, KY; four children David Curry, Lee Ann Wall (Garry), Randy Curry (Amy Monroe), and Terry Curry (Donna Hatcher) all of Columbia, KY; four grandchildren Dustin Brockman (Erin), Shelby Curry, Austin Curry (Caitlin Bronson), and Russell Curry; a great granddaughter Skye Brockman and several other friends and relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son Kenneth Wesley Janes and several brothers and sisters. Pallbearers will be Greg Smith, Barry Smith, Jacob Feese, Mike Curry, Mark Curry, and Stacey Akin. Honorary pallbearers will be Maxie Smith, Donnie Bennett, Joe Morgan, Carl Shirley, and the Egypt Christian Church Elders. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
