Softball: LWC visits Bryan for weekday road test On the heels of back-to-back wins Friday over Union (KY), the Lindsey Wilson softball team continues its non-conference schedule on Wednesday in Dayton, Tennessee, for a doubleheader against Bryan. Lindsey Wilson and Bryan last met on February 19, 2022 in Dayton where they split a two-game series. This season's first meeting is slated for 3pmCT and 5pmCT on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Bryan College's Softball Field. The doubleheader will be broadcast live on the Bryan College Athletics YouTube channel. The Blue Raiders struck for 13 runs off of 16 hits in their sweep of the Bulldogs last week. Freshman Natalie Wandrie dropped three extra-base hits, including a home run, to drive in a team-high four runs, while sophomore Madyson Jones cleared the fence twice to account for her two hits of the series. On the season, Elizabeth Funk is batting a team-best .438 with seven hits and four doubles, putting her at fifth in the Mid-South Conference for batting average. In the circle, the young duo of Grace Adams and Kayden Murray rank first and third, respectively, in the league for earned-run average and have each been credited with one win so far this season. The latter of the two is fresh off an outstanding complete-game performance versus Union, in which she retired 11 on strikes and did not allow a single base-runner. Bryan recently saw its five-game winning streak snapped by Columbia (S.C.) but remain two game above .500 at 5-3. The Lions are led by infielders Aubree Presley - .538 batting average and 14 hits - and Breanna Bumgardner - .417 batting average, 10 hits, three home runs. As for pitching, Payton Reasons and Denver Hogrefe have each thrown for over 24 innings in four starts apiece. The pair also hold an identical strikeout total of 22.
