Ollen D. Janes, 89, Columbia, KY (1935-2024) Ollen Davis Janes of Columbia passed away on February 24, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. He was 89 years old. Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Bro. Larry Wisdom and Bro. Larry Huckaby officiating. Burial will follow in the Tarters Chapel Cemetery, with military honors provided by VFW Post 6097. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT, and will continue Wednesday morning until time for the service at Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home. He was born in Adair County, KY on January 23, 1935, to the late Galeon and Sallie Keltner Janes. Mr. Janes was a member of the Pickett's Chapel Church and the Adair County Cattlemen's Association. He was a veteran of the United States Army and enjoyed farming, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his family and friends. Survivors include his wife Bonnie Janes of Columbia, KY; a son Barney Janes (Doris) of Columbia, KY; four grandchildren Sarah Streeval (Keith), Michael Janes, John Janes, and Rebecca Godsey (Alan); eleven great grandchildren Christian and Wade Janes, Merlin and Christina Godsey, Timothy, Matthew, Zachery, Jackson, Benjamin, Katelyn, and Madelyn Streeval; a sister Phyllis Stone (Jimmie) of Columbia, KY and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great granddaughter Bella Dawn Streeval and eleven siblings Herbert, Payne, Norman, Bill, Lewis, and Johnnie Janes, Ernestine Kemp, Ruth Burris, Freida Smith, Sue Cundiff, and Retter Bailey. Pallbearers will be Michael Janes, John Janes, Keith Streeval, Alan Godsey, Timothy Streeval, Steve Smith, and Mark Baker. Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
