An observation for the day

Our friend Rob Collins shared an experience and an observation…

“Went to the coffee shop and realized I'd left my phone at home. Sitting in a public space without one is nostalgic. As an amateur student of observational sociology, I was able to watch people discreetly, since most of them were looking down at their devices.

"Some of them were immersed in conversations that I could hear, without effort. Plus, I was able to engage in meaningful face to face conversations without distraction. I'd feel like I have rediscovered freedom and encountered a measure of deep existential enlightenment, except for the fact that l'm posting about it...

So, perhaps not!”
