Bright's years of good days will continue

By Linda Waggener

It was a day filled with friends coming and going, coworkers from her Adair County Extension family staying close, and keepsake pictures being taken amid much laughter - and tears.

"It is bittersweet," Teresa said. "While I'm happy to retire and have more time with family, I will miss the wonderful people who come through these doors - people who work here, the Homemakers and all the groups that we serve - so many good people!"

Bill Spicer, then 4-H Agent, told her when she was hired that any day you can help somebody is a good day. She said that perfectly described what she has experienced in her work. Teresa said her work here has been "thirty-four-and-a-half years of good days" and she told everyone that good days of serving at the Extension Office will now turn in to good days of serving the family she loves.

She looks forward now to all the time she can fit into precious grandkids visits, as much as they want. When she told Her oldest grandchild about Friday being her last workday, Sadie said, "Yay, you can do anything I want you to do!"

Teresa said, "And so I WILL do anything they want me to! They are blessings."

She has three grandchildren - Sadie is 10, Charley, 6, and Nash, 3.

In the midst of all of the sincere thank you's and hugs, Teresa said she didn't know how to act being the center of attention because her job had always been behind the desk, behind the scenes helping others.

Friday, February 16, 2024 all those who love and admire her, and are grateful for her help, put her out front and in the spotlight.
