New book from Crystal Wilkinson Casey County native and former Kentucky Poet Laureate Crystal Wilkinson has a new cookbook, "Praisesong for the Kitchen Ghosts," published by Penguin Random House, hitting stores in January 2024. The book is described by her publisher as "A lyrical culinary journey that explores the hidden legacy of Black Appalachians, through powerful storytelling alongside nearly forty comforting recipes." Wilkinson, who teaches creative writing at the University of Kentucky, was interviewed recently for WAMU's 1A, where she talked about the new book and her memories of her famiy's kitchen while preparing her grandmother's blackberry cobbler recipe.
