Tons of local authors will be at annual Book Fair

We are excited for the 2023 Adair Regional Book Fair to come to town from 9amCT to 1pmCT this Saturday, November 4, 2023, at the Wheet Fellowship Hall, Columbia Church of the Nazarene, 1208 Jamestown Street, Columbia, KY.

The 9th Annual Adair County Book Fair is sponsored by: Mayor Pamela Hoots and Mike Watson, with assistance by the Adair County Public Library, the Adair County Genealogical Society, and the Adair Heritage Association. Click 'Read More' for more participating authors.


Steve Flaherty is here straight from the Kentucky Book Festival with copies of his books, including the series Kentucky's Everyday Heroes.

Lanny Tucker previously worked in the newspaper field where he received multiple awards from the Kentucky Press Association for writing and photography. He has written 28 religious and historical plays which have been performed in various churches in four south-central Kentucky counties and Alexander City, Alabama; in the Female Penitentiary at Pee Wee Valley, Kentucky; in Greensburg's Old Courthouse, and Greensburg's Community Center.

His books include: Boys' Basketball in Green County, 1923 - 2023; Deeds of Blood, 1840; Harp's Head - a Vampire Story; History of Green County; Historical Photos of Green County; Osceola - the Lost River Town of Green County; Outlaw Days; Photos in Green; Television Westerns 1950 - 1980

Deloris Curry is a new independent author of a children's book entitled "Stinky Stella". The book is humorous and entertaining. It is a picture book focusing on ages 4-8. "Stinky Stella" has repetition and alliteration which young children enjoy, while teaching about empathy and self discovery. The author, Deloris Curry, is a retired 4th grade teacher from Green County, Kentucky. The illustrator is Addelynn Parrish, a current freshman at Green County High School. Teacher and student have been learners together in this endeavor.

Author Troy Mitchell Scott has lived in the Central Kentucky area his entire life. He grew up in Greensburg and early on he had a love for reading and writing. As an elementary student he began writing short stories. He worked for the Record Herald in Greensburg, Ky. as a sportswriter in his early twenties.

He moved to Campbellsville in 1985. He continued to write short stories. One of those was a science fiction story that featured Phoenix Murphy, a young female astronaut who attended college in Central Kentucky. That short story eventually grew into A Storm on Mars, a 106,000-word science fiction novel. The book was published in January of 2018 by Bellamy-Fleming Publishing. It is the first book of a trilogy.

Microburst, the sequel was published in January of 2023. Both books are available on Amazon and Mr. Scott has been busy doing book signings in the area. He will have copies of both books at the Adair County Ky Book Fair on November 4th.

Russell Lunsford and his wife Janice divide their time between their home in Elizabethtown and their farm in Adair County, Ky. They have three children and five grandchildren. Russell is a Lindsey Wilson alumi '70, holds an Associate Degree from Elizabethtown Community College '74, a Bachelor's degree in Sociology '76 and a Master's degree in Guidance and Counseling from Western Kentucky University '78. He is a retired administrator with the Kentucky Office for the Blind and is a retired Chief Warrant Officer 4 with the US Army and Army Reserves.

Rick Lee, of Harrodsburg, KY, will be back for a third book fair with Tribute to Valor and Courage. Rick is a veteran who has a unique perspective when writing on the veteran experience.

Darlene Campbell, teacher, actor, and advocate, who is well known for her fiction and non-fiction alike. The new book will be onsite for the fair.

Ernestine Smith Bennett will have copies of her County Stores books.

Dwan Hadley will have his inspirational books, including the newest installment.

Pam Hoots, Mayor of Columbia, may have copies of her poetry.

Mig Preisinger, journalist extraordinaire, will be in attendance with some of his titles.

Samantha Sinclair will be here with her unique style of writing available to the public.

Tim Roy will offer his wonderful life story.

Lou Ann Russell will inspire you with her books of poetry and more.

Marshall Smith will have copies of his fine poetry and tell you a tale or two.

Mike Watson will have a few local history and genealogy books for researchers--including History of Adair County, volume 1.

Kay Harbison and Judye Hafling will be in attendance with the works of the Metcalfe County Historical Society. They have a new volume to highlight.

The leaders of the Green County Genealogical Society will offer their various books.

Barbra Wright has at least one new volume to add to her vast array of local genealogical and historical research.

Joe DeSpain or a representative will be here with Taylor County Historical Society publications and more.

Mary Donna Foley will have some Russell County publications available.

In addition there will be representatives from the Daughters of the American Revolution, Adair County Genealogical Society, Adair Heritage Association, Adair Genealogy & History Research Center, and Lanterns & Tombstones Tours on had to offer helpful clues in researching local history.
