Phillip Coffey - Nevermore, Nevermore-Not

There is a tapping at my back door leading to much
Lore or maybe not - in my screened in porch.
I shall not exclaim in fear and dread, ”nevermore, nevermore”
As in the writings of Edgar Allen with blackened Raven discharging doom luring.

I dare not while I am sitting comfortably with useless topics
a- thinking While wife is working
Vacuuming the kitchen floor-there to follow
House of Congress take up my impeachment-whispering “Lenore”.

I can not retreat to back farm field as often I did
In my listless days of youth after completed
Assigned chores By my Mother - there to find
My peace and tranquillity in my scattered thoughts - daydreaming.

ARISE,ARISE ! It is duty that is calling- repeatedly.
Do not tarry here-wait not patiently for more calling.
My choices are not delivered by the dreaded
Raven By Mr. Poe in the setting of Baltimore.
Add the task of wiping the porch but not ever,
“NEVERMORE, NEVERMORE!!"
