New book of short stories has local ties

Author Pauline Kurtz has announced the publication of "Short Stories for Siblings: Sandy and Tim." Two of the stories take place in Adair, Green and Metcalfe counties.

"A Good Man" is about Dode Dowell, who was notorious for the murder of Marshall Stotts, and "Lee Haynes" is about another notorious man who rode the ridges with the Rogers Clan back in the 1900s.

Kurtz' last book, "Call Me Huck III: The Trials of Fannie Finn Noe," was about Louisa Rogers Stotts when she was growing up on Mell Ridge along with her siblings, Nellie, Fannie, Irene, Henry, Sam, William, and Sally May Rogers. Kurtz lives in North Salem, Indiana, but has ties to several local families. She is the great-niece of Louisa Rogers Stotts and a granddaughter of Fannie Finn Noe.

"Short Stories for Siblings: Sandy and Tim" was released in paperback on February 1, 2023. It can be ordered online at amazon.com.
