Sophomore class organizes ACHS winter formal

By Ralph Waggener

The Sophomore class of ACHS held a formal dance Saturday night and it was quite a success in many ways. First, it had 315 people who bought tickets, and second, the tickets were only ten bucks each!

My granddaughter Jade is the president of the class and she and all the elected officers planed this on their own!

Jade told me that several told her that they would come but only intended to stay for a few minutes but ended up staying the whole time! There where no problems with bad behavior! The low price gave a lot of kids a chance to come to a dress up party and have a lot of fun!

A Formal Dance is where you dress up - no, not casual - and 315 students wanted to do this in a time when dress up is unheard of!

What impressed me most was that this many kids wanted to dress up and go to a dance, and that this class could handle most of all the decorations and planning with some help from teacher sponsors!

I like the idea of formal dress up party, nowadays even church is a casual affair! So no one wears dress clothing much anymore, to me that is sad because clothes can help a person feel better about themselves!
