Archery: LWC finishes 3rd at MSC Indoor Championship

Madisonville, KY - The Lindsey Wilson archery team finished in third place with 125 points at the 2023 Mid-South Conference Indoor Archery Championship on Sunday.

The Blue Raiders racked up four first, five second, five third, and three fourth-place finishes for the event.


T Sanchez claimed individual gold during the men's recurve. He defeated Tim Smith of Pikeville 7-3 after five ends. Wyatt Burtts claimed first during the men's fixed pins as he took down LWC teammate Gus Burtts 148-147 in the finals.

Austin Taylor claimed second place in the men's compounds while Nathan Bush finished in fourth place in the men's barebow.

During team events, the pairing of Hunter Reading, Christian Blair, and Sanchez claimed first place in the men's recurve. They defeated a Cumberlands trio 5-3 after four ends. On the women's side, Audrey Routte, Ryli Valliere, and Madison Loveless claimed third place.

In barebow action, both the Lindsey Wilson men and women finished in second place. On the men's side, Sean Neal, Jacob Cook, and Bush paired up as Raylee Yadon, Britney McCarthy and Sarah McCarthy joined forces for the women.

Bronson Ormes, Seth Pipes, and Taylor finished in fourth place during the men's recurve while Abigail Kaysinger, Olivia Poston, and Madison Hart claimed fourth for the women.

Gus Burtts, Lyle Uhrich, and Wyatt Burtts took third place in the men's fixed pins event. Jessica Heady, Madeline McGuire, and Anna Krampe finished in third place on the women's side.

With the result, the Blue Raiders sit in third place in the overall season standings after a similar third-place finish during the 3D season. Cumberlands leads with 20 points as Pikeville is second with 16.

The Blue Raiders are back in action on Feb. 16-17 when they compete at the USA Archery Indoor Regionals.
