Basketball: LWC Women win 3rd straight Wilberforce, OH - The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team went on the road Thursday and downed Wilberforce (OH) by a final score of 59-50. The win marks the third straight for the Blue Raiders. Lindsey Wilson trailed the Bulldogs most of the opening two quarters, before taking the lead for good late in the second. Trailing 17-12 with six minutes to play in the second, the Blue Raiders closed out the frame on a 15-2 run to take a 27-19 lead into halftime. The Blue Raiders pushed their lead to the largest of the contest at the seven-minute mark of the third, at 33-19. LWC outscored Wilberforce 21-2 over the nine-minute span from the second to the third quarter. Wilberforce trimmed the LWC lead down to four points in the quarter as LWC took a 39-33 lead into the final 10 minutes of action. The Bulldogs ultimately trimmed their deficit to one point twice in the fourth quarter. Leading by one point with just under five minutes to play, the Blue Raiders produced a 16-8 scoring run to close out the contest. The late play secured the Blue Raiders a 59-50 Mid-South Conference win. Alera Barbee managed a team-high 19 points as Amelia Hodges and Maleigha Oldham each reached double digits with 11 and 10 points. Lucy Patterson narrowly missed out on her third straight double-double with a game-high 14 rebounds and nine points. The Blue Raiders shot just 35 percent from the floor while the Bulldogs managed a slightly better mark at 37 percent.
