Ronald Eugene Bolton, 87, Russell Springs, KY (1935-2023)

Ronald Eugene Bolton of Russell Springs passed away on Monday, January 2, 2023, at his home. He was 87 years old.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2pmCT on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home, 367 N. Main St., Russell Springs, KY , with Brother Byron Vanarsdale officiating. Burial will follow in Poplar Grove Cemetery, with full military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.

Visitation will be held from 11amCT until time of services on Saturday, January 7, 2023, at Bernard Funeral Home.


Born on September 12, 1935, in Lapel, Indiana, he was a son of the late Kenneth Eugene Bolton and Elizabeth Johnson Tillie. Ronald was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict and a retired diesel mechanic of 34 years. He was a member of Poplar Grove Baptist Church. Ronald loved "wheeling and dealing", racing motorcycles, and building hotrods. He also enjoyed boating and camping with his family.

Survivors include his loving wife, Marcella Merrifield Bolton of Russell Springs; three sons, Ronald Eugene Bolton, II (and Debbie) of Commiskey, Indiana, Jeff Irving (and Chris) of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Donnie Edward Balding (and Leslie) of Florida; and two daughters, Kathy McClough and Sherri Fishburn, both of Seymour, Indiana. Ronald is also survived by seventeen grandchildren, Starie, Mason, Nick, Stevie, Charlie, Matthew, Sonya, Shelly, Donna, Kadi, Christy, Torin, Thomas, Megan, Danielle, Lacey, and Andrew; and nineteen great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, Ronald was preceded in death by two daughters, Angela Holden, and Barbara Sue Combs; one brother, Michael Bolton; and one sister, Sandy Presser.
