Lucille Kessler Mars, 94, Greensburg, KY (1928-2022)

Mary Lucille Kessler Mars of Greensburg departed this life on Sunday, January 1, 2023 in Green County. She was 94 years old.

The funeral services for Lucille Kessler Mars will be conducted at 1pmCT on Wednesday, January 4, 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Twyman Davis officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Wednesday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home until time of the funeral service.


Mary Lucille Kessler Mars of Greensburg, Kentucky, daughter of the late Charles Lee Kessler and Elsie Simpson Kessler, was born on Monday, September 17, 1928 in Green County.

She had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a homemaker, loved her home, loved cooking for her family and gardening.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Graham Mars on July 20, 2000 having united in marriage on January 2, 1947.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Donnie and Vickie Mars of Greensburg; a daughter and son-in-law: Judy and Rodney Nunn of Campbellsville; three grandchildren: Darla Brown and husband, Todd, Donna Jean Mars all of Greensburg, and Terry Lee Bishop and significant other, Brittany Combs of Pierce Community; two step-grandchildren: Miranda Richerson and husband, Chase of Rineyville, and Christopher Nunn of Louisville; four great-grandchildren; six step-great-grandchildren; a sister: Adeana Wilson of Pierce Community; special caregiver: Rosetta Brown; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mrs. Mars was also preceded in death by a son: Howard Graham Mars, Jr.; and a grandchild: Karla Mars Burton.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund or Hosparus of Green River which can be made at the funeral home.
