Basketball: LWC Women down Florida Memorial 76-71 Miami Gardens, FL - The Lindsey Wilson women's basketball team shook off a sluggish start to collect their second win in as many days at the St. Thomas Invitational. The Blue Raiders downed Florida Memorial to close out play at the event on a 76-71 result. Three Blue Raiders in Amelia Hodges, Maleigha Oldham, and Lucy Patterson finished the contest with 17 points. Patterson finished the game with a double-double after grabbing a game-high 14 rebounds. Lindsey Wilson struggled in the opening frame as they fell behind 19-11 over the opening 10 minutes and trailed by as many as 11 points over the span. The Blue Raiders bounced back in the second quarter, outscoring their counterparts 22-13. With 6:11 to play, LWC trailed 26-15 before a 12-0 run gave Lindsey Wilson their first lead of the contest at 27-26. The lead changed three more times in the quarter before LWC took a 33-32 lead into the break. Lindsey Wilson fell behind in the third quarter, trailing 39-33 over the opening two minutes before leveling the score at 39 with four minutes gone. After trading the lead twice to a 42-42 tie, LWC managed to pull away, pushing their lead to as many as seven points three times before taking a 57-49 after 30 minutes of play. The Blue Raiders led the rest of the way, despite Florida Memorial pulling within two points five times over the final 10 minutes. Florida Memorial cashed in on 50 percent of the attempts from the field as Lindsey Wilson knocked down 46.7 percent of their attempts.
