LWC: Chavez promoted to Head Athletic Trainer Jesse Chavez has been promoted to head athletic trainer of Lindsey Wilson athletics, Athletic Director Willis Pooler announced on Wednesday. "I am honored to be promoted into the position of Head Athletic Trainer and to uphold the LWC athletic training department's mission to serve, protect, and educate our student-athletes," Chavez said. "I want to thank the administration at Lindsey Wilson College for this opportunity and to better serve our students and community." Chavez has spent the past seven years serving Lindsey Wilson student-athletes as an assistant athletic trainer. He has spent much of his time with coverage for the Blue Raider volleyball, wrestling, baseball, and men's and women's archery programs. "Jesse has been an integral member of our athletic training staff for the past seven years," Pooler said. "He has shown and proven his commitment to our student-athletes and the institution during his tenure. "His experience will be of great value as he takes on this new role within the department," Pooler added. "I'm looking forward to working with him to provide an outstanding athletic training experience for our student-athletes." Before joining the staff at Lindsey Wilson, Chavez worked as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at Oklahoma City University. He provided coverage for soccer, basketball, wrestling, softball, baseball, and cheer and stunt teams, including traveling with programs to regular-season contests and postseason championship events. Chavez is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, Rocky Mountain Athletic Trainers' Association, Mid America Athletic Trainers' Association, New Mexico Athletic Trainers' Association, Oklahoma Athletic Trainers' Association, Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association, Kentucky Athletic Trainers' Association, and USA Wrestling, Baseball, Volleyball, and Archery. He is certified by the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers, the Oklahoma State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, the American Red Cross-Mid Rio Grande Chapter, and Corrective Exercise Specialist. Chavez graduated from the University of New Mexico in 2012 and later completed his master's degree from Oklahoma City University in 2015. This story was posted on 2022-07-13 11:40:34
