Hazel Eckhart, 84, Burkesville, KY (1937-2022)

Hazel Nellodean Severe Eckhart of Burkesville passed away on Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital in Somerset, KY. She was 84 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 11amCT on Saturday, January 29, 2022, at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Burkesville, KY, with Bro. Charles Huddleston officiating. Burial will follow in Burkesville Cemetery.

Family requests visitation on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 4pmCT until 9pmCT at Ballou & Stotts Funeral Home.


Hazel was born on April 25, 1937 in Cumberland County to the late Halton Severe and Carmon Cain Severe. She was retired from 53 years employment in the garment industry having worked at several sewing factories and was a member of the Red Banks United Methodist Church. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Edward Eckhart, and a sister, Mary Harris.

Survivors:
  • Two sons - Joe Davidson (Joyce) of Burkesville, and Stevie Lynn Davidson (Allison) of Burkesville
  • One daughter - Lisa Ann Davidson (Dusty) of Middletown, IN
  • One brother - Bobby Lee Severe of Burkesville
  • Two sisters - Avo Huddleston, Mary Harris and Bonnie Capps all of Burkesville
  • Five grandchildren - Stevie Joe Davidson whom she raised, Valerie Long, Candi Norris, Chelsea Calvert, Michael Calvert
  • Nine great-grandchildren
  • A host of other family and friends
