CU offers Grab 'n Go food, CU Cares to help students By Gerard Flanagan Campbellsville, KY - Campbellsville University students needing assistance have options to assist them. In September 2021, the university's Office of Diversity and Community began a Grab 'n Go program to assist any Campbellsville University student encountering food insecurity. According to Wanda Washington, assistant director of diversity, community and Bridge to Success, as of Jan. 10, the program has collected 100 bags of food to distribute to students. "The students are very appreciative of having these resources available for them," Washington said. "If we look at the big picture, decreasing stressors allows students to focus academically thus increasing changes of completing college. "This is only one component to strengthen our students. It's difficult to explain the joy on their faces as they enter and leave the building. One would think they have a pot of gold!" Students in need may go to the back door of the Diversity and Community Center, 416 N. Columbia Ave., Campbellsville, Ky., from 9amET to 5pmET Monday through Friday, to pick up food, which will be located on a black shelf on the left-hand side in paper Kroger bags. Donations may be mailed to Campbellsville University, Office of Development, UPO Box 784, Campbellsville, Ky., 42718. Make checks payable to Campbellsville University and write "For Grab 'n Go" on the memo line. For more information, contact Washington at (270) 789-5128 or wewashington@campbellsville.edu. Campbellsville University's Office of Campus Ministries also offers CU Cares for students. "CU Cares is a ministry created for the purpose of meeting tangible physical needs of students," Trent Creason, campus minister, said. Students in need may request specific items by visiting the Campus Ministries page under the Faith tile on the CU app, scanning a QR code that can be found around campus or by visiting the following link: http://forms.office.com/r/jqKz0qTTNi Donations are accepted and may be dropped at the following drop-off locations: Carver School of Social Work, 204 Meader Street; School of Nursing, 311 N. Columbia Avenue, Room 119; School of Education, 302 N. Hoskins Avenue, Room 106 or Room 107; Athletic Field House, Front Desk, 202 Tiger Way; Carter Hall, 112 University Drive, Room 310; Hawkins Athletic Center, 205 Tiger Way, Room 202; LMR Department, 202 Nancy Cox Drive; Druien Hall, 100 University Drive, Room 127; Administration Building, 104 University Drive, Room 17D; and Ransdell Chapel, 401 N. Hoskins Avenue. The January drive for items include the following: detergent, dryer sheets, notebooks and pencils.
