Hubert G. Wright, 85, Summersville, KY (1936-2022)

Hubert G. Wright of Summersville passed away on Monday, January 10, 2022 at his home. He was 85 years old.

The funeral services for Hubert G. Wright will be conducted at 11amCT on Friday, January 14, 2022 at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Kelvin Edwards and Bro. Greg Whitlow officiating. Burial will follow in the Aetna Grove Cemetery.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 7pmCT on Thursday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and will continue after 7amCT on Friday until time of the funeral service.


Hubert G. Wright, son of the late Hobert L. Wright and Gwendolyn Aubrey Goff Wright, was born on Friday, February 14, 1936 in Hart County.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a lifelong member of the Aetna Grove Baptist Church where he served as a deacon, and Sunday school teacher. He was a hardworking lifelong farmer. He was an Aetna Grove Cemetery Trustee for many years, past president for the Green County Farm Bureau and board member for many years, and a volunteer for Constructors For Christ from 1986 until 2018 where he helped build churches.

Survived by his wife of 66 years, Phyllis Sydnor Wright of Summersville, having united in marriage on December 17, 1955.

Other survivors include four daughters and three sons-in-law: Rebecca and Bill Lobb of Greensburg, Cynthia and Mike Akin of Summersville, Nina and Kevin Scott, and Laura Jo Wright all of Greensburg; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Jeffery and Lisa Wright, and Clayton Wright all of Summersville; seven grandchildren and spouses: Daniel and Amanda Scott, Benjamin and Melissa Scott, Adam and Lindsay Scott, Matthew and Rebecca Wright, Ashlee and Clayton Matney, Andrew Hedgespeth, and Ivy Hedgespeth; 11 great-grandchildren and spouses: Kelsay and Manny Corlew, Jacob and McKynzee Scott, Hailee Scott, and her fiance, Brice Matney, Caleb Scott, Kaydance Scott, Aubrey Scott, Carson Scott, Weston Wright, Carter Wright, Levi Matney, and Alanna Matney; three sisters and a brother-in-law: Wilma Branstetter of Horse Cave, Sue Davis of Greensburg, Brenda and Tom Majcher of Frankfort; a brother: Mitchell Wright of Mt. Sherman; a special family friend: Carl "Slick" Alexander; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Wright was also preceded in death by two sisters and three brothers: Ruby Jean Durrett, Viva Wade Lydens, Boyce Wright and Chester and Vester Wright.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Aetna Grove Cemetery Fund or the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
