Raymond Pendleton's little mule will be known as ''Little Zeke'' Three photos accompany this story Raymond Pendleton, Columbia, KY, has announced the name of his two week old mule foal, the current royal prince of Page Lane, will be known as "Little Zeke." The little red sorrel mule was born two weeks ago at Mr. Pendleton's Page Lane farm, 1.53 miles from the village of Sparksville, off Bird Road, in southern Adair County. The foal is by Junior Walker's tan jack out of Daisy, Raymond Pendleton's blond Percheron mare. Little Zeke is a cousin of Junior Walker's famous twin mules, and, according to Pendleton, it takes Junior Walker to tell the two colts apart. "We had all three of the little mules over at Junior Walker's place Sunday and they look looked like triplets," Mr. Pendleton said. "Junior was able to make out the difference in the colts," he said. The visit to Junior Walker's was made in the hopes that another blessed event will bring a full brother or sister to Little Zeke in 11 months. "A good pair of mules are worth a lot," Mr. Pendleton said. "They'll bring from $1,500 to $3,000 apiece when they are mature," he said. Besides his Page Lane Farm, Mr. Pendleton is still a full time cross country truck driver, an occupation he's followed for over 50 years. He's had a little time out, occasionally during the last half century, for police work with the City of Columbia, and for rehabbing a house across the street from his residence on Scott Street in Columbia. His son and daughter-in-law, Darrell and Gail Pendleton, manage the Page Lane farm and plan to move there soon. This story was posted on 2005-05-30 16:05:34
