Columbia Ordinance 830.18 changes garbage rates

City of Columbia Ordinance 830.18 amends Ordinance 830.17, setting fees for the collection of garbage and trash from residences, churches, and commercial establishments with the boundaries of the City of Columbia.

The new ordinance was first read on September 10, 2021, and the second reading was on October 4, 2021.

New rates are effective as of October 7, 2021. Residential rates are now $18.00 per month, Church rates are $18.00 per month, and all Commercial and Industrial rates are based on the rate of $65.00 per ton.

Independent candidate Timothy Shafer who will be on the ballot in the upcoming election asked to speak at the public time for comments at the October City Council meeting. The Special Election for State House 51st Representative District, Adair and Taylor Counties, will take place on Tuesday, November 2, 2021. The three candidates for this office are: Democrat candidate Eddie Rogers from Taylor County; Republican candidate Michael "Sarge" Pollock from Taylor County; and Independent candidate Shafer from Adair County.
