Football: LWC opens conference play against Cumberland By Kyle Jackson For the seventh season in a row, the No. 1-ranked Lindsey Wilson football team is perfect through the first three games of the season. The Blue Raiders are looking to keep that perfect run going as they return home to open conference play against Cumberland (TN). Kickoff is scheduled for 5pmCT on Saturday, October 2, 2021, at Parnell Family Stadium, 928 Russell Road, Columbia, KY. The Blue Raiders (3-0) enter tomorrow's game after defeating St. Andrews 50-15 last week. Lindsey Wilson posted 382 yards of total offense with Joshua Lewis catching two touchdowns making him the all-time career leader in receiving touchdowns in program history. Will McDonald led the way for the Blue Raiders, throwing for 130 yards and two touchdowns while Jaylen Boyd added to the running game as he picked up 64 yards and two touchdowns. Lewis had seven receptions on the day and two touchdowns. On defense, Luke Bowman led the way with eight tackles in the game, but it wasn't enough to prevent the Knights from scoring the highest total of points against the Blue Raiders defense this season. Cumberland in their last effort picked up their first win of the season, 19-7 over Florida Memorial. The Phoenix totaled 387 total offensive yards in the game passing for 181 yards and rushing for 206 yards. The Cumberland offense is led by Dylan Carpenter who was 15-of-24 with 181 yards against Florida Memorial. Meanwhile, Treylon Sheppar led the rushing game with 20 carries for 63 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, Champ Leddon had nine tackles in the game against Florida Memorial with Jace Capps making the biggest impact after recording five tackles, two of those sacks for 10 lost yards.
