Emergency preparedness - know your neighbors From Emory Kidd, Director Metcalfe County Emergency Management Tips during September preparedness month - know your neighbors. Know who they are, develop a relationship with them and plan to support each other in case of a disaster that strikes you all. After every disaster, we see the stories of neighbors helping neighbors, not to mention people coming in to help others in their area. Know who may need special assistance in case of emergency, who knows how to "do things." Know their families as well, if you can, know who to call if you don't see a neighbor for a few days.
