LWC Men drop soccer opener to Mobile By Kyle Jackson The No.12-ranked Lindsey Wilson men's soccer team fell to the No.18-ranked Mobile Rams 3-1 in the season opener at Walter S. Reuling Stadium on Saturday. Mobile's goalkeeper Antoine Bedos had a great game for the Rams stopping 12 shots keeping the Blue Raiders from having any sort of momentum in the match. Wet conditions before the match began made for sloppy conditions and an aggressive match with 7 yellow cards given out in the game. Mobile led 1-0 after the first eight minutes with a goal from Zacharia Hasler. Bedos stopped all five shots he faced in the first half and kept the Blue Raiders scoreless. In the second half, it became 2-0 after a wild rebound header by Rodrigo Paredes for the Rams. The Blue Raiders answered less than 10 minutes later with a goal by the leading goal scorer from the 2020 season, Cyrus Harmon. The Rams halted the momentum from the Blue Raiders less than thirty seconds later with a breakaway goal by Joshua Bynoe which sealed the game for the Rams. For the third straight season, the Blue Raiders lose their opening match of the season with their last opening win coming in 2017 when they defeated Tennessee Wesleyan 1-0. Lindsey Wilson outshot the Rams 23-12 in the match producing plenty of offense but finding it difficult to beat the Bedos in goal. The Blue Raiders look to rebound in their next match with they travel to Indiana Tech on September 9, 2021, at 4pmCT. This story was posted on 2021-08-22 10:45:39
