Kalonji signs with Lindsey Wilson Basketball

By Kyle Jackson

Veron Kalonji is set to join the Lindsey Wilson Men's Basketball team for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign, head coach Chris Starks announced on Wednesday.

"Veron will provide us with an athletic, physical presence in the middle on both ends of the floor. Offensively, he can score inside and will be able to knock down that trailing 3 point shot. Defensively, he will give us a physical post presence, while still being able to handle any of our ball screen coverages on the perimeter. Veron is mature beyond his years and will be expected to provide leadership not only on the floor, but off the floor as well."

Kalonji joins the Blue Raiders after completing the first two seasons of his career at Lamar Community College and transfers after spending last season with Northwest Oklahoma State. He is a six-foot-eight-inch guard from Hamilton, Ontario, Canada.

In his first two seasons at Lamar Community College, Kalonji managed a combined 20.1 points per game (PPG) and 13.8 rebounds per game (RPG) while shooting 35.4 percent from the arc. In his five appearances for Norwest Oklahoma State, Kalonji averaged 3.2 PPG and 3.4 RPG.

"Veron is very talented and skilled for his size. Can do a lot of different things when it comes to scoring." Says former Lamar Community College Head Coach Rian Stubbs. "Veron is a tremendous person that LWC teammates, coaches and community we really enjoy to be around. I'm very excited for Veron and LWC this coming season."
