Tyler Solum is new Fire Chief

By Linda Waggener

Tyler Solum will take the reins as Columbia Adair County Fire Chief with the retirement of Mike Glasgow.

The entire family of former and present firefighters came together Saturday afternoon, July 10, 2021 to celebrate Glasgow's 44 years as chief and to welcome Solum to the position.

Firefighters present at the retirement event were:

Preston Cundiff, Kevin Sommer, Adam Coomer, Billy Hadley, Mike Glasgow, Austin Glasgow, Dennis Loy and Travis Starns, Chris Bragg, Josh Brockman, Robert Montgomery, Kurt Klingburg, Brandon Minton, Terry Moore, Tommy Corbin, Larry Walker, William Grider, Brandon Lewis, Roger Cundiff and Brian Caldwell, Tyler Solum, Brandon White, Robbie Shelton, Trent Sparks, Charles Esch, Grant Loy, Eric VanArsdale, Jeremy Franklin and Donald Hare.

Saturday's retirement event saw a large crowd of friends and family coming and going through the two hour event, even though the weather was stormy at the time it began. The food served was over the top, barbecue served with potato salad, baked beans and green beans. Three Firemen cooked three different styles of barbecue and it took lots of tasting to see which was best - final judgement, all three were number one!
