Payne family gathers for dedication to Joe

The Payne family reunion 2021 included the placement of a plaque dedicating a tree in front of the Adair Courthouse Annex to their beloved Joe Payne, husband, father, brother, pastor, leader and hard working volunteer in his lifetime.

Family members gathered at 11am, Saturday, June 26, 2021 for a prayer by Billy Payne, a heartfelt reading by Marjorie Payne, and a special rendition of Joe's favorite songs led by son T.J. Payne.

Family prays before dedication

Brother Billy Payne led the dedication service honoring his brother Joe at Saturday's gathering on the Square. Family members from left are J.T. Payne, Josh Payne holding Joelle, Marjorie, and Jacob Payne with his daughter Genesis, 10, holding the plaque, and Billy. It read, "Planted in memory of Joseph B. Payne, March 12, 1951-February 18, 2016. Rooted in Love, Always in our Hearts."

Found the phone, found a friend

Little Ma'Kenzie Payne found Mayor Pam Hoots' cell phone on the square where pictures had been taken of the Payne family dedication ceremony. She quickly gave it to her mother and the happy owner was reconnected with her phone. Ma'Kenzie is the four year old daughter of Ronnie Payne and Tina Ishmael.
