Raymond J. Skaggs, 95, Campbellsville, KY (1926-2021)

Raymond J. "Ray J." Skaggs peacefully left this world on May 24, 2021. He was 95 years old.

A graveside service will be held at 1:30pmET on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Skaggs Cemetery in Campbellsville, officiated by Rev. Mark Price.

Visitation is requested from 11amET until 1pmET on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home, 418 Lebanon Ave., Campbellsville, KY.


He was born in Bridgeport, Indiana, February 27, 1926 to the late James Franklin Skaggs and Lillian Whitlow Skaggs.

He worked as a power house operator with American Standard after thirty-four years of service and later worked various security positions when he moved from Louisville to Campbellsville, Kentucky. His greatest joy was sitting on his front porch and spending time on his land with his adopted cat.

He leaves behind his daughter, Paula Skaggs Hawkins; step-daughter, Rosemary Pinson and husband, George; step-sons: Ted Borders, James Borders and wife, Janie and Timothy Borders; special neighbors, Paul and Opal Judd; several special nieces and nephews; step-grandkids and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Cecil Skaggs; his brothers: Eugene Skaggs and Robert Skaggs; sisters: Flora Pritchard and Nadine Rafferty; step-daughter, Delores Pruitt; step-sons: Michael Borders and David Borders and a special friend, Mary Lee Kendall Rafferty.

The family would like to express their love and gratitude to the Bluegrass Way Assisted Living Angels, Hosparus Health Angels and the Angels at Taylor County Regional Hospital. We are forever in your debt.

Expressions of sympathy requested to be donations to Hosparus of Green River and may be made at Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.
