Jan Swayze-Curry to judge at Westminster Dog Show in June New York - Columbia, Kentucky resident Jan Swayze-Curry is among the judges at the 145th Annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show Presented by Purina Pro Plan(R) in Tarrytown, New York on June 12, 2021. Due to the pandemic the dog show was moved from its traditional winter date in New York City to an outdoor venue this spring at the Lyndhurst Estate, a property of the National Trust for Historic Preservation. She will officiate over several breeds during her first judging assignment at Westminster. Swayze-Curry will be judging the Afghan Hounds and Dachshunds (all Varieties). All Best of Breed winners she selects will go on to compete in the Hound Group held on Saturday evening. Swayze-Curry was born into the pure-bred dog family of Louis and Peggy Swayze, who started Longlesson Kennel in the late 1940s. Her parents bred over 75 champion Afghan Hounds and Dachshunds. Swayze-Curry became an assistant to all-breed handlers Houston and Toddie Clark in 1968 which would lead to her own professional dog handling career specializing in hound breeds. She has finished more than 50 Afghan Hounds and has personally bred more than 100 Whippet champions. As a professional handler, she finished more than 200 dogs for other breeders and owners. The Longlession Kennel heritage continues with Swayze-Curry and her daughter, Graham Swayze-Miller, who followed her mother's lead to become a successful professional handler. She is approved to judge Afghan Hounds, Borzoi, Dachshunds, Pharaoh Hounds, Whippets, and Junior Showmanship. All daytime preliminary breed and junior showmanship judging as well as evening Group competitions will be held on Saturday, June 12 and Sunday, June 13, 2021. The Best in Show and Junior Showmanship Finals judging will be held on Sunday evening. The dog show is preceded on Friday, June 11, 2021 by the 8th Annual Masters Agility Championship at Westminster Presented by Purina Pro Plan(R) and the 6th Annual Masters Obedience Championship at Westminster Presented by Purina Pro Plan(R) will be held on Sunday, June 13, 2021.
