Richard L. Elam, 82, Russell Springs, KY (1939-2021)

Richard L. Elam of Russell Springs passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2021, at Lake Cumberland Regional Hospital Hospice Care. He was 82 years old.

Funeral services will be held privately.


He was born on Sunday, February 12 1939, in West Liberty, Kentucky, the son of the late Mattie Cox Elam and the late Homer Elam.

Survivors include:
  • His wife, Katherine Elam, of Russell Springs, KY
  • A daughter, Sally McCullum , of Louisville KY
  • Two sons: Richard Elam Jr., of Russell Springs KY, and Brett Elam, of Cape Coral FL.
  • A sister, Susan Jasper, of Whitehouse, TX
  • A grandson, Finnley.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed the occasional Martini and Old Fashion. His son Rich says, "I imagine dad is in Heaven with granddad and Ryan catching all the big fish." He attended Three Trees in Russell Springs.
