LWC Volleyball clinches eighth straight regular season title By Kyle Jackson The Lindsey Wilson Volleyball team clinched their eighth straight regular-season title Monday night after sweeping Freed-Hardeman (Tenn.) 3-0. The win is the Blue Raiders ninth straight victory and improves the team to a 17-2 overall record and 13-1 Mid- South Conference record. Madison Bidwell recorded a game-high 15 kills for the Blue Raiders while Sandra Szczepanska recorded a career-high seven kills in the match. Camryn Rich earned her ninth double-double of the season, notching 30 assists and lead the defense with 11 digs. The game started off with a 6-0 run from the Blue Raiders before the Lions answered back with four straight points. The Lions rallied again later in the set to tie the first match at 17-17 before Bidwell had four kills to help the Blue Raiders win set one 25-20. Into the second set, Freed-Hardeman got off to a quick 2-0 run and were looking to build some momentum to tie the game. The Blue Raiders quickly tied the game up at 2-2 and swapped the lead back and forth before going on a three-point run to extend their lead 19-12. The Blue Raiders saw that lead begin to slip away as the Lions rallied late to cut it to 22-18, but Bidwell stepped up again to help her team get over the line and win set two 25-18. The Blue Raiders got off to a commanding lead in the third set, leading 7-3 and eventually winning the final set 25-15 for the 3-0 sweep, not allowing the Lions to create any kind of momentum for a comeback. The Lindsey Wilson volleyball team will return to Biggers Sports Center on April 1 to continue their regular season against Georgetown (Ky.). The game is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. CT.
