LWC Football ready for ranked battle with No. 19 Georgetown

The No. 4 Lindsey Wilson football team faces its second ranked opponent of the season on Friday afternoon. The team will travel to No. 19 Georgetown (Ky.) to face the Tigers in a Mid-South Conference Bluegrass Division battle at Toyota Stadium in the NAIA Game of the Week. Kickoff is scheduled for 2:30pmCT.

In the last outing on Feb. 26, the Blue Raiders easily dropped off then-No. 17 Cumberlands (Ky.) by a final of 45-10 at home. The Tigers also won their last game, defeating Cumberland (Tenn.) 19-7 on the road Feb. 26.

Friday will be the home opener for Georgetown (2-0, 2-0 MSC Bluegrass Division), who hasn't beaten Lindsey Wilson since 2013.



The Tigers bring two of the top defensive linemen in the Bluegrass Division to the field in DJ White and Marcus Omosule. Entering tomorrow, White ranks second in the NAIA in sacks per game (1.5) while Omosule is close behind at fifth in the NAIA (1.3). GC is allowing just 13.5 points per game to opponents, the third-best mark in the Bluegrass Division.

On offense, Georgetown is averaging 23 PPG, having recorded three passing and two rushing touchdowns this season so far. Hunter Krause leads the air attack with 452 passing yards and all three team touchdowns, while Isaiah Cobb has rushed for a team-high 72 yards on the ground.

As for Lindsey Wilson (2-0, 2-0 MSC Bluegrass Division), quarterback Cameron Dukes continues to shine for his squad. Dukes has thrown for 442 yards and six touchdowns in just two games while ranking ninth in the NAIA in total offensive yards per game (266.5). Wide receiver Terrill Cole has corralled a team-best 11 receptions for 173 yards.

On defense, LWC ranks second in the NAIA allowing opponents to average just 144.5 yards per game. Luke Bowman has garnered the team lead in total tackles at 12, while Michael Leslie and Darius Hylick are right behind with 11 each.
