LWC Baseball Falls to Georgetown in MSC Opener

By Kyrin Mayfield

Georgetown, KY - The Lindsey Wilson baseball team kicked off Mid-South Conference play with a 6-2 loss at Georgetown (KY) on Friday.

The Tigers (4-2, 1-0 MSC) got the scoring going early in the bottom of the first. With two runners on, Brandon Kennrich doubled to score both baserunners. Nicholas Dilorenzo followed with a single to put a third run on the scoreboard for Georgetown.

A half-inning later, Lindsey Wilson (3-4, 0-1 MSC) responded in the second with a pair of runs. Nico Martinez and Seth Price started things off with a single and a double with no outs. Martinez scored on a Lucas Bault groundout and Price came home one batter later when Gabe Board knocked a base hit, but the Blue Raiders trailed 3-2.

The Tigers then rattled off three unanswered runs over the next five innings as Georgetown brought home a runner in the fourth, seventh and eighth innings to take a 6-2 lead and eventually earned the victory by the same score.

Brady Cappe (2-1) received his first loss of the season for Lindsey Wilson after allowing four earned runs and eight hits over six innings pitched with three strikeouts.

Martinez went 2-for-4 in the batter's box with one run for the Blue Raiders. Ty Menrath also recorded a multi-hit game with a line of 2-for-3.

A doubleheader between Lindsey Wilson and Georgetown was scheduled for today. However, the doubleheader will instead take place on Saturday at 1pmCT to conclude the three-game series.
