LWC Volleyball defeats Bethel in 4 sets; remains undefeated By Kyle Jackson The No. 15 Lindsey Wilson volleyball team continued their undefeated season Thursday night with a 3-1 win over Mid-South Conference opponent Bethel (Tenn.). The Blue Raiders improved to a 4-0, 2-0 MSC record after defeating Bethel 25-19, 22-25, 25-16, 25-16 in four sets. In a record making evening, Alexis Smith recorded a career-high 16 kills in one game. Madison Bidwell and Alix Stoermer added to the offense with 10 kills each, the most in a game for Stoermer. Abby Grubbs made things happen tonight with 36 assists, a career-high in a match for the Tennessee native. Lastly, Larzelere had 26 digs, the most in the game. Lindsey Wilson started the game where they left off, winning. Smith would grab seven kills in the first set to win 25-19. In the second set, Lindsey Wilson got off to a 4-1 start but Bethel stood their ground, hitting 11 kills and two back-to-back aces for a 10-7 lead and a 25-22 second set win. Tied at one apiece into the third set, both teams would swap the lead at 10-10 before the Blue Raiders finally pulled away at 14-10 to win 25-16. Into the fourth set, Bethel took a commanding 7-3 lead and was looking to force a fifth and final set before Lindsey tied things up at 14-14. Stoermer put the team on her shoulders for the final points of the game and got the winning kill to take the set 25-16. The Blue Raiders will be back in action on Feb. 27 when they travel to Lebanon, Tennessee for a double header between MSC opponent Cumberland (Tenn.) at 2pmCT and No. 22 ranked Keiser (Fla.) at 4pmCT.
