Nine LWC wrestlers qualify for NAIA National Championship By Christopher Coombs Nine Lindsey Wilson wrestlers have qualified for the 2021 NAIA National Championship, NAIA officials announced on Monday. Sam Bacon, Trent Johnson, Derrick Smallwood, Joe Koontz, Tyler Hall, Trajan Hurd, Carlos Figueroa, Trevor Lawson and Brandon Reed all earned automatic bids based on their performances at the Mid-South Conference Championships last week. There are four institutions bringing a full roster of 12 grapplers to the national stage. This included nine-time National Champions Grand View (Iowa), Reinhardt (Ga.), Life (Ga.) and Missouri Valley. Baker (Kan.) follows closely bringing 11 wrestlers to the national championship. The Mid-South Conference has the most selections of any conference with 56 in the field of 240 at the national championship. Preliminary brackets are scheduled to be released on Friday, Feb. 26 on www.naia.org. The 64th annual NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championship takes place March 5-6 at Hartman Arena in Park City, Kansas. This story was posted on 2021-02-23 04:55:21
