Rain today, high 40F, wintry mix tonight

It's currently 34F at the Adair County Mesonet station. It will be cloudy today, with a high near 40F and a 50 percent chance of showers. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming calm. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch is possible.

An Ice Storm Warning remains in effect through Thursday night for areas of Kentucky south of the Bluegrass and Western Kentucky Parkways all the way down to the Kentucky and Tennessee border.

Tonight we'll see rain showers switching over to freezing rain some time after 2amCT, with an overnight low around 28F. North wind 5 to 9 mph. New ice accumulation of around a 0.1 of an inch is possible.

Thursday will bring rain and freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet, for most of the day. The high will be near 34, with northeast wind 10 to 13 mph. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch is possible.

Thursday night will bring a 20 percent chance of rain changing over to freezing rain between 8pmCT and Midnight. We'll have cloudy skies and a low around 25F, with north wind 8 to 10 mph.

Note: Temperatures are expected to continue dropping through the weekend. Expect very cold conditions Sunday night, with lows in the middle teens in southern Kentucky. Another system may bring significant snow to the region Monday-Tuesday.
