LWC Tennis starts 2021 season with road test By Kyle Jackson The No. 8 men's tennis team and No. 13 women's tennis team travels to Harrogate, Tennessee, on Sunday to open their 2021 season with a match against Montreat College (NC). The match is set to take place at 3pmCT. Lindsey Wilson (0-0, 0-0 Mid-South Conference) will begin the 2021 season this weekend after the 2020 season was cut short due to concerns surrounding COVID-19 last spring. The men's tennis team finished the 2020 season with a 4-0 overall record, going 1-0 in the MSC before play was halted. The women's tennis team got off to a 2-2 overall start, with a 1-0 record in the MSC. This season marks Suresh Ramamurthi's second season in charge of Lindsey Wilson's tennis programs who were both named favorites to win the MSC in the preseason coaches' poll announced on Jan. 21, 2021. The men's tennis team returns five student-athletes from the 2020 squad. NAIA and ITA All-American Camilo Erazo returns for his senior season and Sophomore Tiago Almeida returns after being named to the All-MSC team in 2020. The women's tennis team returns six student-athletes from the 2020 squad. ITA All-Americans Lucia Mora and Alexandria Parra return for their Junior and Sophomore seasons respectfully while NAIA Scholar-Athlete Emilia Allen returns for her Junior year. Montreat College men's tennis team posted a 1-4 overall record last season before having their season canceled due to COVID-19 concerns. Their women's tennis team did not participate in a 2020 season. This meeting will mark the first time both Lindsey Wilson programs have met with Montreat College.
