Genice Stephens Riggins, 83, Russell County, KY (1937-2020) Genice Stephens Riggins, of Russell Springs, Kentucky, passed away on Friday, January 1, 2021, at her home. She was 83 years of age. Born on March 4, 1937, in Russell County, Kentucky, she was a daughter of the late Charlie and Ada Susie Aaron Stephens. Genice was a retired cook for the Russell County Board of Education. She enjoyed being outside, gardening, and working in her flowers. Survivors include one son, Ricky Riggins of Jamestown; one daughter, Tammy (and Donnie) Goble of Prestonsburg; one granddaughter, Amy Melson of Russell Springs; two grandchildren, Ryan Melson and Alexis Melson; and one sister, Jean Lowry of Hamilton, Ohio. In addition to her parents, Genice was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Riggins, who passed away on August 26, 2018; one brother, Pete Stephens; and five sisters, Betty Flannigan, Diddie George, Mallie Blankenship, Coleen Morgan, and Delma McQueary. Funeral services are 1pmCT Monday, January 4, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home with Gary McQueary officiating. Burial will follow in Bernard Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5-8pmCT Sunday, January 3, 2021, at Bernard Funeral Home. Social distancing guidelines must be followed by everyone in attendance. Facial coverings are required.
