COVID-19: LCDHD anticipates vaccine by end of 2020

By Amy Tomlinson, Lake Cumberland District Health Department

The LCDHD is anticipating possibly receiving COVID-19 vaccine in the Lake Cumberland area by the end of the year. Our partnerships with you will become even more valuable in the weeks and months ahead as we rely on you to help us spread the word about the vaccine and it's availability.

The first shipments we will receive are expected to be very limited and will be reserved for healthcare workers and long term care residents and staff. As the vaccine supplies increase into the Spring, more priority groups will be added. We will advise you all of when those events occur. We will all have to work together to get the word out to our communities.

For now, we would appreciate your assistance in asking the public to remain patient and to please respect the priority groups that have been established by the state. There is sound reasoning for why certain groups are placed ahead of others in line for the vaccine. We MUST protect our most vulnerable and highest risk populations first.
