Jerry Nell Long, 76, Greensburg, KY (1944-2020)

Jerry Nell Long of Greensburg passed away on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at the University of Louisville/Jewish Hospital in Louisville. He was 76 years old.

There will be private services held for Jerry Nell Long at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Bethlehem Cemetery.

A walk-through-only visitation is requested from 11amCT until 1:30pmCT on Saturday, December 19, 2020, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY.

Due to Covid-19, please continue to practice social distancing and facial coverings are required.



Jerry Nell Long of Greensburg, Kentucky, son of the late Miley Long and Margaret Willis Long, was born on Monday, January 31, 1944 in Cumberland County, Kentucky.

He was a magnet grounder for Crucible Steele Company for 36 years, and currently worked for Taylor Regional Hospital in the Maintenance Department for 6 years.

Survived by his wife of 58 years, Wanda Paxton Long, having united in marriage on November 10, 1962.

Other survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Jason "Pedro" and Pat Long of Richmond; five grandchildren: Erin Long of Winchester, Ashlee Long of Campbellsville, Emily Long of Richmond, Dusty Long, Elliott Long both of Campbellsville; eight great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law: Billie Long of Stanton; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Mr. Long was also preceded in death by two sons: Jerry Dewayne "Dee" Long on July 11, 1995, and Robert Allen "Robbie" Long on December 27, 2012; two brothers and a sister: Albert Long, Richard Long, and Faye Walters.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the American Diabetes Association or American Heart Association, which can be made at the funeral home.
