James 'Jim' Hill, 73, Russell County, KY (1947-2020)

James “Jim” Hill, of Jamestown, Kentucky, passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2020 at his home. He was 73 years of age.

Jim was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War and a truck driver for thirty-two years. He enjoyed boating, fishing, and working with computers and electronics. Jim also liked watching old movies. He attended Grace Independent Baptist Church.



Born on March 12, 1947, in Nome, Alaska, he was a son of the late Edwin and Mary Dotson Hill.

Survivors include his wife, Tawnya Watkins Hill of Jamestown; two sons, Carl Hill of Covington and Aaron Abney of Russell Springs; five daughters, Betty Hill, Kelly (and Bryan) Newby, Katie (and Joshua) Noe, and Rebecca LaFavers, all of Russell Springs, Bonnie (and Lucas) Cravens, of Liberty; and one brother, Willis (and Laura) Hill, of Beaverton, Oregon. Jim is also survived by twelve grandchildren, Jessica Kilpatrick, Amber Carmen, Ashley Mardis, Samantha Burchett, Lauryn Abney, Taylor Abney, Alyviah Newby, Addacin Hill, Kason Hill, Kagen Brandt, Kynadie Brandt, and Nolan LaFavers; ten great-grandchildren, Patience Calhoun, Harmony Hodge, Braydyn Burchett, Taylynn Burchett, Aubrey Kilpatrick, Elizabeth Carmen, Abby Carmen, Chevy Carmen, Noah Burchetta, and Mira Bieber.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Kinley Paige Brandt; and a son-in-law, Jordan LaFavers.

Due to COVID restrictions, funeral services will be held privately for family only at Bernard Funeral Home with Brother Caleb Shirley officiating. Burial will follow in the Russell Springs City Cemetery with military honors by the Russell County Honor Guard.

Social distancing must be followed by everyone in attendance. Facial coverings are required.
