ACSO: Deputies seize over $15K of suspected crystal meth

On Friday, October 16, 2020, at 10:39pmCT, Deputy Joey Keith and K-9 Deputy Josh Durbin with K-9 Nitro initiated a traffic stop of a 2007 Volvo nine miles east of Columbia on KY 80.

During the stop, deputies suspected there to be illegal drugs in the vehicle, and Deputy Durbin ran K-9 Nitro on the vehicle.

Nitro had a positive hit indicator for illegal substances in vehicle, and, as a result, a search was conducted.

Located was over 5 ounces of suspected crystal methamphetamine with a street value over 15,000, plus marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and cash.

George Tom Polston, 58, of Columbia, was arrested on charges of:
  • 1- Failure to wear seatbelts
  • 2- Possession of a controlled substance 1st degree
  • 3- Possession of marijuana
  • 4- Possession of drug paraphernalia
  • 5- Trafficking in a controlled substance 1st degree methamphetamine
Polston was lodged in the Adair County Regional Jail. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Kentucky State Police.
