Charlene Sexton, 80, Columbia, KY (1940-2020)

Charlene Sexton of Columbia passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 1:20amCT at her home. She was 80 years old.

The funeral service will be held at 2pmCT on Tuesday, October 6, 2020, at Grissom-Martin Funeral Home, 200 Campbellsville Street, Columbia, KY. Burial will follow in Haven Hill Cemetery.

Visitation is requested after 10amCT on Tuesday.

All attendees to the visitation and/or funeral are required to wear a facial covering and follow Healthy at Work guidelines.



Charlene Sexton was born January 5, 1940, in Adair County, to the late Robert and Alta Price Akin and was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobbie C. Sexton, three brothers, Bobby, Dickey and Finley Akin and two sisters, Audrey Calhoun and Genois Collins.

Survivors include:
  • One son - Chris and his wife Nan Cole of Columbia
  • One daughter - Marian and her husband Tony Grant of Glens Fork
  • One brother - Dean and his wife Jane Akin of Versailles
  • Three sisters - Margie Williams, Flossie and her husband Houston Price all of Columbia, Sheila and her husband Steve McQueary of Louisville
  • Two grandchildren - Ryan Cole and Chasity Dyer
  • Two great-grandchildren - Madison Cole and Lena Bell Dyer
  • Several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to Hosparus of Green River or the Adair County Elementary School Family Resource Center. These can be made at the funeral home.
