Vernon Eugene (Fireball) Bass, 84, Green Co., KY native (1936-2020)

Vernon Eugene "Fireball" Bass passed away on Friday, September 18, 2020 at his home. He was 84 years old.

The funeral services for Vernon Eugene "Fireball" Bass will be conducted at 1pmCT on Friday, September 25, 2020, at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, 206 S. Main St., Greensburg, KY, with Bro. Mike Riley officiating. Burial will follow in the Ebenezer Cemetery in Green County.

Visitation is requested from 4pmCT until 7pmCT on Thursday at the Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home, and after 7amCT on Friday until the time of the funeral service.



Vernon Eugene "Fireball" Bass of Mason City, Illinois, son of the late Robert Conley Bass and Leora Malissia Smith Bass, was born on Tuesday, April 28, 1936 in Green County, Kentucky.

He had made a profession of faith in Christ, was a member of the Ebenezer Presbyterian Church and also the Mason City Christian Church in Illinois. He was a former funeral assistant for Cowherd and Parrott Funeral Home and also for Cain-Hurley Funeral Home in Mason City.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law: Andy and Kim Bass of Harrodsburg; a granddaughter: Ashley Griswold of Harrodsburg; a sister and brother-in-law: Nell and Bill Bradshaw of Greensburg; devoted companion of 30 years: Pat Akin of Harrodsburg; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mr. Bass was also preceded in death by four sisters and two brothers: Leora Pickett, Maggie Gupton, May Furkin, Virginia McConnico, Dick Bass, and Marvin Bass.

The family has asked that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Ebenezer Cemetery, which can be made at the funeral home.
