Jay Michael Rose, 58, Columbia, KY (1961-2020)

Jay Michael Rose of Columbia passed away on Friday, May 8, 2020. He was 58 years old.

All services will be held privately, officiated by by Rev. Paul J. Dicken and Rev. Daniel Marcum, with burial to follow in Campbellsville Memorial Gardens. Online condolences may be left at parrottramsey.com.



Jay Michael Rose, son of the late, J.C. Rose and Norma Cobb Rose Fanto, was born July 3, 1961 in Clayton, Missouri. He died at 8:53 A.M., Friday, May 8, 2020 in Columbia.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Campbellsville Christian Church and also attended Shiloh Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

Jay was employed as a hunting guide and manager of several hunting properties as well as a salesperson and trouble shooter for hunting companies. Jay was a former recreation supervisor for both Lake Cumberland and Buckhorn State Parks.

He also previously owned The Natural History Educational Company where he did live animal presentations of birds of prey, reptiles, nocturnal and exotic animals. He traveled throughout Kentucky and Tennessee teaching children and adults in schools and libraries about the wildlife he traveled with and their habitats.

He has many awards and mounted trophies for hunting and fishing. He was also an artist creating pieces with scrimshaw on bones and antlers.

He united in marriage to Paula Beard October 14, 1995.

Besides his wife, Paula Rose of Columbia, he is survived by one daughter, Shawna Dishler of Carlisle, Kentucky; two sisters: Pam Rose and Angie Rose; his mother-in-law, Ann Beard of Campbellsville; brother-in-law, Damon Beard of Nicholasville; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Paul Dexter Beard.

The family has requested donations to Gideon Bibles or the Scleroderma Foundation. These may be made through Parrott & Ramsey Funeral Home.
