ACSO: Millerfield collision critically injures two By Sheriff Josh Brockman Adair County Sheriff's Office On Tuesday, March 24, 2020, at 11:42amCT, the Adair County Sheriffs Office was dispatched to a head-on collision with possible entrapment on KY 76, 15 miles east of Columbia. Sheriff Brockman arrived on scene to find that two occupants had been ejected from their vehicles, and one female was pinned underneath a van where it had landed on her after she was ejected from the vehicle. When Adair County EMS and the Columbia Adair County Fire Department arrived on scene, the Fire Department was able to dig the ditch line out manually with shovels before lifting devices arrived on scene, making it possible to remove the trapped female from underneath the vehicle. Preliminary investigation shows that unit 1, a 2004 Chevy utility van, operated by Robert Hagy, 71, of Columbia, was traveling west on KY 76 along with his passenger Connie McGowan, 51, of Columbia. Hagy dropped off the shoulder of the road and over-corrected in an attempt to regain control. The vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2002 Jeep, operated by Michaela Waskoski, 19, of Columbia, in a head-on collision. The van then spun around in the roadway, ejecting Hagy and McGowan from the vehicle. Hagy was thrown clear. However, McGowan landed in a ditch and the van came to rest on top of her in the ditch. Hagy was treated on scene by EMS and taken to TJ Health of Columbia. McGowan was treated on scene by EMS after being freed from underneath the vehicle, and was transported to Russell County Hospital where she was transferred to University of Kentucky with serious injuries. Waskoski was not transported by EMS. Deputy Chandler Staten is lead investigator on the collision, and was assisted by Deputy Brandon Hitch and Sheriff Brockman.
