Garon Parrish, 85, Columbia, KY (1934-2020)

Garon Parrish of Columbia passed away on Friday, March 6, 2020, at the T. J. Samson Community Hospital in Glasgow. He was 85 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11amCT on Tuesday, March 10, 2020, at the Stotts-Phelps-McQueary Funeral Home, 210 Greensburg St., Columbia, KY, with Rev. Ronnie Dooley officiating. Burial will follow in the Roach Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday from 4pmCT until 8pmCT at the funeral home, and will continue on Tuesday morning until time for the service.


Born December 10, 1934, in Adair County he was the son of the late Roy and Lucy Jessee Parrish and husband of the late Lenora Brown Parrish.

He was also preceded in death by his first wife Muriel Wilson Parrish, a son Mark Parrish and a brother Audrey Parrish.

Mr. Parrish was a member of the Antioch United Methodist Church and a former employee of Jeffries Hardware, working in the Electrical Department. He was a board member for Kentucky Farm Bureau and he loved fishing and watching Kentucky Basketball.

He is survived by his caregivers Connie Scott (niece), Russell Parrish (nephew) and his wife Kathy, Bonnie Walker, Leoda Curry and Estelle Janes; several other nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

Pallbearers will be Clint Scott, Steve Campbell, Don Bault, Jeff Wilson, Earl Hartman and Larry Franklin.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Weis and Russell Parrish.
