Walter E. Spurling, 91, Taylor County, KY (1928-2020)

Walter E. Spurling passed away peacefully on January 30, 2020 at the age of 91.

Funeral services will be at 12noonCT/1pmET Sunday, February 2, 2020 at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church by Bro. Raymond Atwood. Burial will follow at Jones Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.



Walter as born August 20, 1928 in Mannsville, Kentucky to Benonie Spurling and Villa Cox Spurling.

He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Jones Chapel United Methodist Church where he served as trustee for several years.

Walter began his career at Fruit of the Loom then worked hard logging trees and hauling vaults. He was co-owner of Central Kentucky Vault Company for several years and also a farmer.

He united in marriage to Imogene Creech August 9, 1950 and she preceded him in death March 13, 2019.

He was known for his infectious smile and his kind and compassionate spirit.

He is survived his sister, Doris Bade of Indianapolis, Indiana; two sisters-in-law: Brenda Viars and husband, Danny and Connie Lynn Smith and husband, Bill of London, Kentucky; his special caregivers and supporters Elaine "Sissy" Childers of Campbellsville and Lonnie Spurling and wife, Becky of Elk Horn; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Benonie, his mother, Villa, his wife, Imogene and his two brothers and three sisters: Clifton, Lemuel, Regena, Inez and Katie.
